among Top 20 community college degree producers nationwide;
first
in Texas
Central
Texas College (CTC) was recently ranked 20th among the nation's
100 Top Associate Degree and Certificate Producers in 2007
according to a recent report by Community College Week
magazine. With 2,241 associate's degree graduates,
CTC ranked 20th in the nation and first in the state of
Texas among community colleges.
Across
the country, nearly 565,000 associate degrees and one- and
two-year certificates were awarded in academic year 2006-'07
by public, private non-profit and proprietary institutions.
The current analysis of the top 100 degree-producers was
collected through the National Center for Education Statistics
Integrated Postsecondary Education Data Set completions
survey. The analysis
considers only Title IV eligible institutions which means
an institution must be accredited by either a regional or
specialized accreditation agency that is recognized by the
U.S. Department of Education.
CTC
ranked first in Texas ahead of North Harris Montgomery Community
College District (24), Houston Community College System
(25), Tarrant County College District (29), El Paso Community
College (37) and San Jacinto Community College (50).
CTC
was also ranked in the top 100 nationwide in several individual
categories for specific associate's degrees awarded: second
overall (first in Texas ) in multi/interdisciplinary studies;
31st overall (second in Texas ) in criminal justice degrees;
and tied for 49th (second in Texas ) in security and protective
services degrees.
